It Pays to Show Gratitude
It pays to show gratitude in our daily lives as it affects our well being and with the way we see things and relate with other people. Most of the time, we tend to get very busy with work, our goals, and our other preoccupations that we forget to see the all the good things and people we have always been blessed with and be thankful for them.
Gratitude helps you focus better. Showing appreciation for the smallest yet most delightful things – such as a devoted spouse, being able to see your baby smile, the clear weather, and many others – gives you a positive feeling about life and inspires you to do more. Being grateful reminds you about what really matters so that you can re-align your priorities.
Gratitude allows you to take pleasure in the smallest things. In this modern world we live in, there is the illusion that the bigger goals you achieve – like a fatter paycheck, a big house, and expensive car – the happier you get. This is of course, not necessarily true. Learn to be happy and thankful about being in good health and not have to shell out sums in hospital bills or sharing laughter and drinks with your friends, or for being spared a life of the oppression.
Gratitude eliminates jealousy and bitterness. Being sincerely grateful keeps you busy with the things that makes you happy that you forget negative feelings about not being as rich or as successful as other people around you. You stop feeling resentful about your neighbor who just had his home renovated or your colleague who got promoted if you know how to show gratitude.
