My Happiness Manifesto – How to Create One
What is a happiness manifesto?? This is a phrase that I’ve recently started to come across and not really thought that much about until now. Basically, all it means is that you decide on certain rules in your life to live by that can make you happy. This was all done in a UK documentary a few years ago, making a noticeable difference in one town.
Developing Your Happiness Manifesto
When it comes to making your own manifesto there are a number of ways you can go about this. This is not an exercise in recognising and writing down all of the biggest goals in your life. It means taking time to think about what can make even day-to-day life more happy. This is definitely an exercise in positive thinking!
When it came to writing down mine, I found that writing on paper is a lot more productive than writing on the computer. This is because what you write on paper is more final, making you more likely to stick to what you say.
So, think about 10 things that you can do every day that will help you become more happy and write them down.
An Example Manifesto
Here are a few of the kind of points that you might want to include on your list:
- Smile at strangers,
- Be thankful for what went well at the end of each day,
- Perform random acts of kindness,
- Do your bit to help be more ‘green’ and protect the environment,
- Laugh
These are just a few simple examples. You can see that none of them seem life-changing, but if you did these things every day you’d probably feel a lot happier, a lot more positive about everything that happens in your life, and a lot more fulfilled!
Your happiness manifesto might change in the future, but even if you only stick to one of the items you’ve written down, you’ll be making a real improvement!
